Illinois Directs New Transit Funding to West Loop CTA Routes

Local delivery workers and restaurant staff who start shifts before 6 a.m. stand to gain from the extra early-morning service on the 60 Blue Island route, which passes several West Loop distribution facilities. The change is expected to shorten average wait times by four minutes on that corridor, based on the CTA's service planning data attached to the bill.
Property managers in the 300 and 400 blocks of West Randolph Street have already received notices from the CTA about temporary stop relocations during track work funded under the same measure. Those adjustments begin August 3 and last through October.
Next steps for implementation
The Illinois Department of Transportation must transfer the first quarterly payment to the RTA by July 31. The CTA board is scheduled to vote on the final service plan at its July 16 meeting, after which riders can review exact timetables on the agency's website.
